Phosphene is a shoegazey, indie rock duo comprised of myself and my husband, Matt. We’ve been at this music thing for over a decade, and I’ve designed and illustrated a range of gig posters and album covers for each of our releases and shows over the years.
Most recently, Matt and I co-directed a music video for our most recent lead single, “Black Sheep,” off Transmute, our latest album. We brought in our extremely talented close friends, Christie Goshe and Jeffrey Placencia, as cinematographers on this project. Together, we took Matt’s initial narrative concept and built it out into a full shot list across two locations, a NE Portland production studio and Oceanside, a picturesque stop along Oregon’s ragged coast. My role on this project involved storyboarding, figuring out wardrobe, and chiming in with some hovering art director-style feedback while Matt cut the video together in post. (Sorry, hon.)
This was our first real effort at a music video, and we've been humbled by the response so far. In exciting news, the video will be screening as part of Hollywood Theatre's winter shorts program at the Hollywood Airport Theater at PDX from January through March 2024.
